Superman & Batman: The Movie
The classic team-up of Superman and Batman is best known for being presented in the World’s Finest Comics series which began in 1941 (the first issue was titled World’s Best Comics, apparently changed due to possible legal action from a rival publisher). Superman and Batman were regularly teamed up beginning with World’s Finest Comics #71. The widely popular teaming continues today in the Superman / Batman series which began in 2003.
Batman Begins, released in 2005 starring Christian Bale, spawned the widely successful The Dark Knight and will likely continue into further sequals.
Superman Returns, released in 2006 starring Brandon Routh, paid homage to the classic Superman and Superman II films starring Christopher Reeve (ignoring the less-than-memorable Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace). Although it was generally received favourably, it will not likely have a sequal.
It is even more unlikely that Brandon Routh and Christian Bale will ever share the spotlight in a team-up movie, but one fan managed to create a fabulous trailer for a movie we will likely never see.
